TeamstersCare Pharmacy Specialty Medications Benefit
TeamstersCare has specific benefit rules for coverage of specialty medications. These specialty medications are certain high cost oral, injectable, infused or inhaled medications that are either self-administered or administered by a health care provider. Many of these prescription drugs require certain handling and shipping conditions. Also included are many biotech and cancer treatment drugs.
The specialty medications covered by this benefit are listed alphabetically on the above toolbar and are only available through:
- TeamstersCare Pharmacies (pickup service only @ Charlestown or Stoughton)
- Accredo Specialty Pharmacy (mailorder only)
In
addition, these medications are:
- limited to a 30-day supply and
- require a $15 copay
If you choose to fill your speciality medication at a TeamstersCare Pharmacy, the procedure is the same as with any other medication. Your TeamstersCare Pharmacy staff are available for questions or information during normal business hours.
If you choose to use the Accredo Specialty Pharmacy to fill your prescription, they will monitor the shipment of your medication, contact you via telephone to be sure you will be home to accept the shipment, and they will be available for consultation regarding your medication 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You or your doctor can reach them by telephone at 1-877-543-7097.
