Dealing With Grief & Loss During Covid-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives in many ways including producing dramatic increases in feelings of grief and loss. Some of this comes from the direct effect of seeing friends and family die without the opportunity to mourn these losses in traditional ways that typically help us to progress through the bereavement process. Other non-death-related losses have also occurred as a direct or indirect result of the pandemic, including loss of sense of normalcy, loss of security, loss of milestone events, loss of social network and loss of sense of self.  The typical experience of grief has become more complicated for many due to these changes. We are here to support you in understanding and managing these feelings.

Please join us for a conversation with Blue Cross psychiatrists Dr. Ken Duckworth, Dr. Greg Harris and psychologist, Dr. Alan Cusher to learn about these issues and resources accessible to you and your family during this time. You can also submit your own questions both upon registration and during the event.

Alan Cusher, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist and member of the Physician/Psychologist Review Unit at BCBSMA with many years’ experience in psychology/neuropsychology. He provides grief and loss counseling to individuals and groups in his practice in Shrewsbury and Jeff’s Place Children’s Bereavement Center in Framingham.
